PME 800 Week Two Reflection

Did I achieve this week's proximal goal?

This week my goal was to identify ten research-based strategies for working with students with Dyslexia and to complete the outline for my website. This week I was able to successfully identify ten resources for my website. As I did my research I continued to work to ensure that the strategies and research I used the strategy of asking myself, "How will this help teacher's?" I found that asking this question allowed me to more easily refine my research. As I completed research this week, one area I spent more time researching was the use of assistive technology to help students with Dyslexia.

One tool I found particularly interesting was a Chrome extension called Announcify.

Unfortunately, I was not able to complete the outline for my website this week. I plan to complete this Monday and Tuesday this week in order to maintain appropriate progress to reach my next proximal goal.

 What were my challenges?

Image result for poor time management
One of my biggest challenges this week was TIME. We are currently at the mid-term of our semester. This meant it was time for me to write report card comments for my students. Writing report card comments and updating my grades took up a lot of my evening and weekend time this week. Unfortunately, this meant I had less time to be able to dedicate to my inquiry project.

How do I need to revise my planning based on what I know now?

Due to the time I lost last week completing report card comments this week, I plan to dedicate additional time each evening to ensure that I will be able to reach my proximal and distal goals. I have set out a list of items that I hope to achieve this week and have divided it by day. I am hopeful that a week of hard work will allow me to make up for the time I lost this past week.
