PME 800 Week 5 Reflection: Project Complete

"Self-regulation is not a mental ability or an academic performance skill; rather it is the self-directive process by which learners transform their mental abilities into academic skills. Learning is viewed as an activity that students do for themselves in a proactive way rather than as a covert event that happens to them in reaction to teaching.  Self-regulation refers to self-generated thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are oriented to attaining goals" (Zimmerman, 2002). I am excited to share my completed website about Dyslexia. Upon completion of this project, I feel a tremendous amount of satisfaction and pride. PME 800 Week 4 Reflection

Did I achieve this week’s proximal goal? This week my goal was to finish my website and share the completed website with teachers at my school. I wanted to receive feedback about the readability and usefulness of the website. Praise: I found it very visual and informative. It was a place where you can find information about not only what dyslexia is, but how to understand it and many approaches to teach and help students/children learn. I especially like the short videos of information that shared teaching strategies and student voice to their approaches to learning.  There is a lot of great information on here that is easy to access and navigate.I really love how you included videos of what certain teaching strategies look and sound like. Your site looks great.  It's clean and easy to read.  I like how the content is listed in bullet points.  For busy teachers, this is a perfect way to get information quickly and easily.   This looks awesom...

PME 800 Week 3 Reflection

Did I achieve this week's proximal goal? This week my goal was to complete the outline of my website to include the definition of dyslexia and 10 research-based strategies for students with dyslexia. I was able to achieve this proximal goal. I have decided to organize my website into five pages. DefinitionDyslexialxia Signs and Identification Teaching Strategies Classroom Environment Assistive Technology What were my challenges? Time continued to be a challenge this week. After finished report cards comments last week, this week I had parent-teacher conferences and began coaching cheerleading after school Tuesday-Friday. These added responsibilities made it more challenging to stay on target to reach my proximal goals. In order to stay on target to reach my proximal goals, I ended up completing a large amount of work on the weekend rather than distributing it evenly across the week.
